Postscript to Ashland

"Tracy's Tiger"....hmm, well, what do you think? The show was well acted, the music and lyrics mesh, but overall, neither of us was keen on this play. While we had the benefit of reading the William Saroyan novella on which the play was based before travelling to Ashland, we wondered how those in the audience who had not done so managed to follow the story. So, if you're going to Ashland this year and haven't bought your tickets yet, we've give it a miss. Cindy's favorite play from this trip was "Distracted"; Dick's was "Tartuffe", But we both enjoyed both productions.

This was out first time staying at the Lithia Springs Resort (recommended by our friends Mary and Sam). Our two room suite was quiet (except for the 12:45 am freight train passing nearby the first night, and Mr. Bullfrog croaking intermittently through the night in the pond next to our room), comfortable, and private, and only a 5 minute drive from "downtown" Ashland where we usually stay.

A thick marine layer ("Toto, we aren't in Ashland anymore, we're in San Francisco in July") greated us Monday morning and kept temperatures down until we left the Rouge River Valley around 2 pm after lunch in one of the brew pubs in Grants Pass and headed over the mountains and along the Smith River drainage to the coast where it was sunny, breezy, and about 70,
